''I already have life insurance through my employer''
While life insurance offered by an employer is often quite affordable, there is often one significant added risk.
If you happen to acquire a serious illness and miss a significant amount of work, employers typically maintain your employee benefits for 12 weeks, but if you miss more than 12 weeks of work, the employer terminates your benefits. At this point it is likely that you are uninsurable and cannot purchase private life insurance.
Some employers do offer life insurance that allows an employee to take over the insurance payments and keep the policy, this is ideal! Make sure to ask your employer and read your benefits thoroughly to determine the details of your employee benefits.
Health Savings Accounts (HSA) may invest in investments such as CD’s, money markets, mutual funds, and stocks. HSAs may not invest in things such as collectibles, art, automobiles or real estate.
